Happy Mother's Day!

Today we started off the morning getting our bountiful basket. Yum! We got a LOT of broccoli this time and even a head of brocciflower....broccoli and cauliflower mix. Then we went to the big soccer game of the season....Abby and Eliza on opposing teams. It was a great game and it was fun to watch the girls play on their respective teams. They did well and even went against each other toe to toe! And they cheered for each other when it was their turn to sit out a quarter. This afternoon we did a little junkin'. I found a cute wooden chair that will be good for photo shoots. And it was only $10! Tonight was a treat....we went to dinner with Brian, Kamille, Brian T. and Erin. It was out Mother's Day celebration. We went to BJ's...a brewhouse. No beer (at least not the hard stuff) but great food. It was fun to visit without kids (even though we love them to death). Dan and Chris will get their own dinner out another time...when it works out better than today did. Mark and I thought that we'd celebrate with the kids today and let them celebrate tomorrow in their own little families. The bad part is that I won't get to see any of the kids/grandkids tomorrow on the actual Mother's Day. Oh, well. Tomorrow is the persecution lesson. I hope it goes well!

Weekend Events

I'm catching up on the events of this past weekend. Saturday we had three soccer games; one at 8, one at 9 and one at 10! Then we went to Matthew's cub scout pinewood derby. Matt had a sweet car that he and his dad built. While he didn't win a medal, he did well in all of his races and had a nice looking car. Also, he was a great sport and didn't get down when he didn't "win". He and Dan are already looking at things they'll do differently next year and are already planning something "better". After the races, they wanted to come up to the valley to do a bit of shopping. We went to Deseret Book in Chandler. Mark and I had Matt and Emma with us, so we made a quick stop for a photo shoot. It went well, but the sun was in a bad spot at that time of day and it was hard to not get a lot of shadows. Oh, well. Then we all went to Mimi's together for dinner. It was a good day.

Yum!

Erin and I had a fun morning/day today. We decided to make cinnamon rolls for breakfast during General Conference. We made a total of six dozen....three dozen each. Erin shared some of hers with the families she visit teaches. I shared mine with Dan and Brian and their families. I have to say, those are delicious cinnamon rolls. Of course, Mark and I had to sample one tonight....we couldn't wait for breakfast! We did our usual recipe, but decided to make the icing with cream cheese. Yum! That will become our "new" icing for cinnamon rolls. We spent the morning and part of the afternoon finishing up. Then Mark and I spent the rest of the day making our deliveries. I hope the boys and their families enjoy them.
Tomorrow is week two of soccer games. Poor Abby....won't be able to play for at least a couple of weeks. I have to say, though, she has had a terrific attitude about the whole injured toe situation. Way to go, Abby.
I got to see Ellie's fingers today and they're REALLY getting better. I think that by this time next week, she won't have any bandages anymore and she'll be pretty much back to normal.
Next week starts Matt's baseball games. We're excited to be able to go down to watch as many games as we can. Go, Matthew!!
This weekend is General Conference. I always look forward to conference weekend and it's always a let down when it's over. I'm sure this one will be no different. I got me a notebook to take some notes. And I plan to attend Ladies' Night at least for a little while.

Sad Accident and Start of Soccer in Peoria

On Thursday, Erin had her two littlest girls (the others were at soccer practice with BT) and they were going to Wal-Mart and to Costco. They only made it as far as Wal-Mart...and did no shopping. Ellie was a few steps in front of Erin and she was opening the side door near the carts when a big gust of wind caught the door and wedged the two middle fingers on her left hand in the door. Erin rushed to help and pulled the door open. There is basically no skin (very deep) on those fingers on the last two knuckle sections. Poor girl. Erin rushed her to the restroom to wash it so she could see what sort of damage was done. It was bad. A couple of ladies helped her with the washing the one even got some ice to put on it. But it was bleeding pretty bad. The mgmt. at the time weren't a lot of help, however. Erin thought they were calling 911 to get her some help, but when the "help" arrived, it was only a mgr. wanting to take an incident report. When Erin realized that, she rushed off to a pediatric urgent care where they took good care of Ellie. They cleaned it and bandaged it. They took x-rays and luckily, the fingers weren't broken. It's pretty gruesome. And the bad part now is that it has to be cleaned and rebandaged three times a day and Ellie hates that. They have to basically hold her down to do it. I helped Erin today since BT wasn't home, and it was not fun. I felt so bad for little Ellie. She held on tight and cried and cried. But we got it done. She's pretty good about playing still and tries to do everything herself, but she has problems. Those fingers are pretty important ones to try to function without. I won't post a picture of the actual wounds, but here is Ellie with her bandaged fingers. Brave girl!

And today was the start of the soccer season in Peoria. Eliza, Abigail and Dallin are all playing on teams. Eliza's team is the Darth Vaders (black uniform), Abigail's team wears royal blue and are the Jaguars. Dallin (and Brian's team...he's the coach!) wear light blue and are called the Big Blue. They all had a great time playing. If you look at the pictures of Dallin, he is having pure joy as he plays and even more so as the ball comes his way. The other little kids spent their time collecting ladybugs and kicking soccer balls to Grandpa up and down the hill. It was a fun day.

This evening Mark went to the YW Broadcast. I chose to watch it here at home...no use putting on a dress and nylons if you don't have to! It was a great broadcast. Can't wait for General Conference next weekend. Yea!
